Our barn is 40 feet longer if we wanted to add more stalls but it is used for hay storage. That is what we did and feel you could stretch that a bit, as our neighbor did ,to add a few cows. That gives you 80 total with a center alley setup, which I feel is the best, especially in Michigan. The recommendation is for 40 stalls (20 head to head ) before a cross over. Would a center feed alley with 1 crossover work with that small of a group size, (36 stalls on a side )? I'm looking at 70 headlocks, sand bedding, drive by feeding. I've seen 100's of barns over the years, now it's time to design my own. I don't want to do that again, so I'm starting to plan for a freestall barn to be completed by summer '17. I milked for 5 years without any housing for my cows. Posted 06:12 (#5078885) Subject: First Freestall Questions ( logon | register )įirst Freestall Questions Jump to page : 1 Now viewing page 1
